This 55 kDa protein has been isolated from Bothrops alternatus snake venom. The protein contains a disintegrin-like domain (referred to as alternagin-C abbr. Alt-C), which mediates inhibition of collagen type-1 binding to integrin-alpha-2 / integrin-beta-1 (CD49b / CD29) integrin inhibition sentence: (Souza et al, 2000; Selistre-de-Araujo et al, 2005). Moritz et al (2018) have reported that alternagin-C binding to this integrin decreases matrix metalloproteinase MMP-9 and MMP-2 content in human breast cancer cells and decreases
