Agelaia-MP

Agelaia-MP (INWLKLGKAIIDAL; Ile-Asn-Trp-Leu-Lys-Leu-Gly-Lys-Ala-Ile-Ile-Asp-Ala-Leu) has been isolated from the venom of the neotropical social wasp Agelaia pallipes pallipes (Mendes et al, 2004). Agelaia-MP causes hemolysis of rat erythrocytes and is a potent degranulator of mast cells (see also: MCD peptide family [mast cell degranulation peptide family]). The peptide shows little antimicrobial activity and does not cause chemotaxis in polymorphonuclear leukocytes.
