Afuni

The cDNA has been cloned by Bannister et al (2005) from the regenerating arms of the brittle star Amphiura filiformis. The encoded protein is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein family and shows high similarity to sea urchin univin. Afuni has been implicated in arm regeneration and adult arm development. Afuni is expressed in migratory coelomocytes within the radial water canal of regenerating and nonregenerating arms.
