[Ascaris suum antibacterial factor] ASABF is a protein of 75 residues responsible for the antibacterial activity in the body fluid of the nematode Ascaris suum (Kato, 1995; Kato and Komatsu, 1996). Andersson et al (2003) have identified ASABF peptides in Ascaris lumbricoides, which is the principal species in humans. Similar genes have identified also in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans (see: abf-1 [antibacterial factor-1].
