ART4

[ADP ribosyltransferase 4; Ecto-ADP-ribosyltransferase 4] ART4 is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored cell membrane protein. The human cDNA encoding this enzyme has been identified by Koch-Nolte et al (1997). Like the related proteins ART1 and ART2, ART4 is an enzyme catalyzing the transfer of the ADP-ribose moiety from NAD+ to a specific amino acid in a target protein (see also: PARP1 [poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1]). Gubin et al (2000) who referred to the gene as DOK1, have reported that ART4 encodes the Dombrock blood group antigen on erythrocytes but that enzymatic activity has not been demonstrated.
