[Apoptosis repressor with caspase recruitment domain] This protein has been identified as an inhibitor of cell death by apoptosis (Koseki et al, 1998). Stoss et al (1999) have identified the same protein as a nuclear protein, which they called NOP30 [nucleolar protein of 30 kDa]. The smaller isoform, called MYP [muscle-enriched cytosolic protein] is localized mainly in the cytoplasm. The larger factor binds to a splicing factor, whereas the smaller one does not. The approved gene symbol is NOL3 [nucleolar protein-3]. A databank synonym for this protein is CARD2 [
