(approved gene symbol) [ALK and LTK ligand 1]. An alternative designation for this protein is FAM150A [family with sequence similarity 150 member A]. The protein is being referred to also as AUGB or AUG-beta [augmentor-beta] and is related to ALKAL2 (Reshetnyak AV et al, 2015).
Zhang et al (2014) have reported that ALKAL1 is a high-affinity ligand for receptor kinase LTK [leukocyte tyrosine kinase] and stimulates phosphorylation of the receptor. Guan et al (2015) have reported that ALKAL1 also binds to ALK [anaplastic lymphoma kinase].
