ADAM28
[a disintegrin and metalloprotease domain 28; ADAM metallopeptidase domain 28] This protein is a member of the ADAM protein family. It is known also as MDC-L [metalloproteinase-like disintegrin-like cysteine-rich protein L], a protease expressed predominantly on human lymphocytes (Roberts et al, 1999).
The protein is expressed by human lymphocytes in a secreted form (MDC-Ls, ADAM28s) and a transmembrane form (MDC-Lm, ADAM28m) (Roberts et al, 1999). Murine ADAM28 is expressed in thymic epithelial cells and developmentally related tissues including the trachea, thyroid, stomach, and lung, but not in lymphocytes
