This is the designation of a monoclonal antibody staining follicular dendritic cells. The 8D6 antigen is a protein of 282 amino acids that is expressed abundantly on follicular dendritic cells. The antibody has the ability to block costimulation of growth and differentiation of CD40-stimulated B-cells mediated by follicular dendritic cells (Li L et al, 2000).
The designation 8D6A refers to the first cysteine-rich domain of the 8D6 antigen (Li L et al, 2000).
In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD320.
