a murine 30 kDa T-cell activation cell surface glycoprotein (see also: cell activation). 4-1BB is a type 1 transmembrane protein of 255 amino acids (extracellular region: 186 amino acids; transmembrane region: 22 amino acids; cytoplasmic region: 47 amino acids).
Mouse 4-1BB (Ly63) is a homolog of human ILA [induced by lymphocyte activation] (new designation: CD137; see also: CD antigens). Owing to its homology to other members of the TNF receptor superfamily the receptor is being referred to also as TNFRSF9 [TNF receptor superfamily member 9].
