Monoclonal antibody anti-4B4 was produced by fusing NS1 myeloma with spleen cells of a mouse immunized with Saguinus oedipus lymphocyte. The antibody defines a 135 kDA cell surface protein that is widely distributed throughout the hematopoietic system. Anti-4B4 is reactive with functionally unique human T-cell subsets that have been identified as T-helper cells and T-suppressor cells (Morimoto et al, 1985).
The anti-2H4 antibody recognizes an epitope of the human leukocyte common antigen (CD45). In vitro translation of proteins from cDNA encoding different isoforms shows that the 2H4 epitope is encoded by exon A (Streuli et al, 1987). See:
