symbol: 18w. This Drosophila melanogaster protein, encoded by gene CG8896, has been identified by Eldon et al (1994). It is named for its unique segmental expression pattern in Drosophila embryos and expression in cells that migrate extensively. The protein is a transmembrane receptor related to IL1R and Toll receptor. In databanks Toll-2 is used synonymously.
