This bioactive peptide fragment is derived from WISP-3 [Wnt-1 induced secreted protein-3; Wnt1-inducible signaling pathway protein-3], a member of the CCN family of secreted cysteine-rich growth regulators (Karagiannis and Popel, 2007). Wispostatin-3 [TKWTPCSRTCGMGISNRV] corresponds to residues 232-249 of the WISP-3 gene (WISP-3(232-249)) (Karagiannis and Popel, 2008).
