These cells are the precursors of synovial lining cells and correspond to either of the two types of synoviocytes. B-cells or B-synovioblasts are synovial fibroblasts (Okada et al, 1981, 1984; Barland et al, 1962). A-cells or A-synovioblasts are synovial macrophages (Edwards and Willoughby, 1982; Graabaek, 1982; Saotome et al, 1980). Note that the terms B-cells nowadays refers practically exclusively to cells of the immune system producing antibodies, and
