This is a peptide derived from the bone morphogenetic peptide BMP9. The peptide (CGGKVGKACCVPTKLSPISVLYK; Cys-Gly-Gly-Lys-Val-Gly-Lys-Ala-Cys-Cys-Val-Pro-Thr-Lys-Leu-Ser-Pro-Ile-Ser-Val-Leu-Tyr-Lys) retains the bioactivity of the parent protein in promoting osteogenic differentiation (Bergeron et al, 2007, 2009). Lord et al (2010) have reported that pBMP9 dose dependently reduces the proliferation of human white pre-adipocytes without affecting the number of apoptotic cells.
