[Mucin-like glycoprotein] The murine protein is the counterpart of the human DMBT1 [deleted in malignant brain tumors 1] gene. Apactin is an 80 kDa type 1 membrane glycoprotein derived from pro-Muclin. Tandon and De Lisle et al (2004) have reported that apactin is involved in remodeling the apical cytoskeleton during regulated exocytosis.
Muclin is an O-glycosylated protein of 300 kDa, originally termed gp300 [Glycoprotein 300] and identified as a pancreatic zymogen granule membrane protein and as the major sulfated glycoprotein of the mouse acinar cell
