lyn is a non-receptor cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase belonging to the src family of tyrosine kinases. It was isolated originally on the basis of sequence homology to another src family member, yes. The human gene maps to chromosome 8 in the region q13-qter.
lyn is expressed predominantly in heatopoietic cells (see also: hematopoiesis). Two different forms of lyn of 56 and 53 kDa arise by differential splicing. lyn is expressed preferentially in B-lymphocytes but very little in normal T-lymphocytes. lyn transcripts are found also in the granular layer of the adult mouse cerebellum.
lyn has been shown to be a signal transducing molecule for membrane-bound immunoglobulin M. lyn and other src family tyrosine kinases
