follicular cytotoxic T-cells
abbr. TFC cells. This cell type constitutes a specialized population of CD8(+) cytotoxic T-cells. The cells are characterised by the expression of the chemokine receptor CXCR5. Their differentiation depends on transcription factors E2A, BCL6, and Tcf1, but is inhibited by other regulators, including BLIMP1, ID2, and ID3. This particular subset of T-cells localises in, or proximal to, B-cell follicles in secondary lymphoid organs of mice, non-human primates, and humans and eradicate virus-infected follicular helper T-cells and
