[dickkopf-related protein 4] (from German dick =thick; Kopf = head) abbr. dkk-4. Also: dickkopf-related protein 4 or dickkopf homolog 4. The protein (224 amino acids) is related to the other members of the dickkopf family (dickkopf-1, dickkopf-2, dickkopf-3). The protein contains two distinct cysteine-rich domains in which the positions of 10 cysteine residues are highly conserved between members of the dickkopf family (Krupnik et al, 1999). The human protein has been shown to undergo proteolytic processing, which results in cleavage of the second cysteine-rich domain
