a mouse mutant affecting an adaptor protein involved in the signaling of the EDA (ectodysplasin A) receptor. The protein contains a death domain that interacts with the death domain of the EDA receptor. The gene is called also EDARADD [EDAR-associated death domain; Ectodysplasin-A receptor-associated adaptor protein]. Headon et al (2001) have shown that crinkled is caused by a genomic deletion of the EDARADD coding region. Mouse and human EDARADD proteins are 80 % identical (Headon et al, 2001).
