citropins

Citropins are peptides isolated from the granular dorsal and submental glands of the Blue Mountains tree frog Litoria citropa. Citropin 1.1 (GLFDVIKKVASVIGGLamide) and citropin 1.2 (GLFDIIKKVASVVGGLamide) are two major peptides. Citropin 1.3 (GLFDIIKKVASVIGGLamide) is a minor peptide. The three peptides show significant wide-spectrum antibacterial activity (Wabitz et al, 1999; Wegener et al, 1999; Giacometti et al, 2005; Cirioni et al, 2006). Their mechanism of action involves membrane lysis (Ambroggio et al, 2005; Boland and Separovic, 2006).

Doyle et al (2002) have reported that citropin 1.1 ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
