[chemokinostatin]
This terms has been coined by Karagiannis and Popel (2008) to describe bioactive peptide fragments, derived from a subgroup of chemotactic cytokines (CXC-Chemokines) containing the ELR motif that promote angiogenesis by regulating both endothelial cell proliferation and migration. They have identified a set of six peptides (22-24 amino acids) that, in contrast to the parent proteins, exhibit notable anti-proliferative and anti-migratory activity for endothelial cells in vitro.
Chemokinostatin-1 [NGRKACLNPASPIVKKIIEKMLNS] [CXCL1(80-103)] corresponds to residues 80-103 of the chemokine
