Casoxins are bioactive peptides derived by tryptic digest of kappa-casein (Chiba et al, 1989) that may play a role as food hormones.
casoxin A is derived from bovine kappa-casein and corresponds to kappa-casein(35-41) (YPSYGLN; Tyr-Pro-Ser-Tyr-Gly-Leu-Asn). It shows opioid antagonist activity in the guinea pig ileum assay (Xu, 1998).
