This antimicrobial peptide from the Siamese crocodile, Crocodylus siamensis, with the sequence KKSCHTGLKKSAGWVIPIGTLVKNGIIVR is active against Escherichia coli, Vibrio cholerae, Bacillus megaterium, and Bacillus pumilus. The peptide shows 71.9 % similarity to sOT2 and is derived from ovotransferrin, a form of hen transferrin found in the oviducts that has a bacteriostatic function and is not controlled by iron levels.
