Mouse brushin has been identified as an antigen defined by a multiabsorbed rabbit antiserum against DBA receptors of teratocarcinoma OTT6050 (Ozawa et al, 1982). It is a glycoprotein antigen common to teratocarcinoma, visceral endoderm and renal tubular brush border (Ozawa et al, 1982). Brushin has been found to be a specific marker of primitive and visceral endoderm. Brushin is considered the mouse counterpart of megalin (See also: gp300, LRP2 [low density lipoprotein-related protein 2]).
