Also: lactoglobulin-beta(142-148). This short peptide, ALPMHIR, is derived from bovine beta-lactoglobulin by proteolytic digestion. It has been shown to act as an inhibitor of angiotensin-1 converting enzyme (CD143) (Mullally et al, 1997; FitzGerald and Meisel, 1999). Walsh et al (2004) have reported that beta-lactoglobulin(142-148) is degraded rapidly upon incubation with human serum and cannot be detected in the sera of 2 human volunteers following its oral ingestion, suggesting that the peptide probably is not sufficiently stable to gastrointestinal and serum proteinases and peptidases
