adipospheres

This term, also: adipocyte spheroids, has been given to magnetic nanoparticle assemblies to model adipose tissue development and growth in organoid cultures of 3T3-L1 pre-adipocytes, which remain viable in spheroids for a long period of time but lose adherence and die after reaching confluence in two-dimensional tissue culture systems. Tseng et al (2018) have reported a protocol for the generation of adipospheres as a model of white adipose tissue employing coculture of murine embryonic pre-adipocytes, endothelial cells, and cells from the stromal vascular fraction of the original tissue.
