[zeta chain-associated protein kinase 70 kDa, Zeta-associated protein 70] This 70 kDa tyrosine phosphoprotein associates with the zeta chain of the T-cell receptor and undergoes tyrosine phosphorylation following receptor stimulation (Chan et al, 1992; Iwashima et al, 1994). The ZAP70 gene is expressed in T-cells and natural killer cells. The ZAP70 gene maps to human chromosome 2q12.
Mutations in the ZAP70 gene have been shown to occur in patients with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID; see also: Immunodeficient mice) (Chan et al, 1994; Elder et al, 1994).
