[X-ray-inducible transcript 6]. XIP6 is one of several transcripts transiently and differentially expressed 8- to 230-fold in x-irradiated versus unirradiated radioresistant human melanoma (U1-Mel) cells. Expression of the transcript is induced also by UV irradiation or treatment with phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (Boothman et al, 1993).
