[Wnt family member 7b; wingless-type MMTV integration site family member 7b] Wnt-7b is one member of the so-called Wnt family of proteins (Nusse et al, 1991), identified by Gavin et al (1990) by virtue of sequence homology to Wnt-1.
Huguet et al (1994) have reported overexpression of Wnt-7b in approximately 10 % of breast tumors. Bui et al (1998) have reported high expression in bladder cancer. Kirikoshi et al (2001) have cloned the human Wnt-7b gene and reported overexpression in a variety of cancer cell types. Kirikoshi and Katoh (2002) have reported high expression of Wnt-7b in MCF-7 (breast cancer) and NT2 (embryonal tumor).
