[Wnt family member 15; wingless-type MMTV integration site family member 15] Wnt-15 is a member of the Wnt family of structurally related genes that encode secreted extracellular signaling factors. The human gene encoding Wnt-15 has been identified by Bergstein et al (1997). The Wnt-15 gene maps distal to BRCA1 on chromosome 17q21, where it lies within 125 kb of Wnt-3.
Wnt-15 is an ortholog of Wnt-9 and the same as Wnt-9b and Wnt-14b (Kirikoshi et al, 2001). The Wnt-15 cDNA fragment isolated previously corresponds to a part of orf of the Wnt-14b cDNA (codon 216-335) (Kirikoshi et al, 2001).
