wishful thinking is the Drosophila homolog of the vertebrate BMP type 2 receptor (BMPRII) and closely related to the type 2 receptor for MIS [Müllerian inhibiting substance] (Aberle et al, 2002; Marqués et al, 2002). Marqués et al (2002) and Aberle et al (2002) have implicated wishful thinking in Drosophila neuromuscular junction synapse assembly and activity. Mutations in wishful thinking result in pharate lethality that can be rescued by expression of a wishful thinking transgene in motor neurons
