WISH

This term has multiple meanings:


(-1-) A transformed human cell line with epitheloid morphology originally established from amnion epithelium (Hayflick, 1961). This cell line is used to assay human IFN-alpha and IFN-gamma. The interferons (see: IFN) are quantified by performing a cytopathic effect inhibition assay of vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV). The cells are significantly more sensitive for both IFN-alpha and IFN-gamma when EMCV (encephalomyocarditis virus) is used instead of VSV.
