This bioactive peptide (CYQRRVAITAGGLKHRLMSSLIIIIIIRINYLRDNSVIILESSY) has been isolated from the venoms of Vespa magnifica (Smith) wasps by Chen et al (2010) who also cloned the cDNA. Vespin shows contractile activity on isolated ileum smooth muscle.
