VSGP

[Vascular smooth muscle cell growth-promoting factor] This factor has been isolated from bovine ovarian follicular fluid as a stimulator of vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation (Miyamoto et al, 2001). Bovine and human VSGP are orthologs of rat F-spondin, a protein identified as a guidance cue for neurons. The protein is also being referred to as SPON1 [spondin-1].

VSGP does not affect the proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells, but it inhibits cell migration of these cells in response to VEGF or bFGF ... ... ... ...
