[VEGF related factor] also termed VRP [VEGF related protein] The factor is the same as VEGF-B.

VRF cDNAs have been isolated from a human fetal brain library, normal and tumor tissues (Grimmond et al, 1996). Two different mRNAs with open reading frames of 621 and 564 bp, respectively, arise by alternative splicing. The predicted proteins show strong homology to VEGF at their amino termini. Only the shorter isoform conserves all 16 cysteine residues of VEGF-165. The overall protein identity of this form with VEGF is 48 %.
