VIPhybrid

This is a synthetic broad spectrum vasoactive intestinal peptide receptor antagonist (a (N-stearyl, Norleucine17)-VIP (Moody et al, 2003). It inhibits interaction of VIP with its receptors in a variety of cell types in vivo and in vitro. Moody et al (2003) have reported that VIPhybrid antagonizes VIP receptors in non-small cell lung cancer cell lines and breast cancer cell lines and inhibits the growth of these cells in a colony formation assay. In lung cancer cells the inhibitor blocks the induction of VEGF induced by VIP or prostaglandin E2 (Casibang et al, 2001). VIPhybrid also potentiates the cytotoxicity of chemotherapeutic agens.
