abbr. and approved gene symbol: UTS2B. The protein is known originally as URP [UII-related peptide; U2-related peptide; urotensin-2-related peptide]. In some databanks the term UTS2D [urotensin 2 domain containing] is used.

The rat, mouse and human cDNAs encoding the precursor for urotensin-2B (sequence in all species: ACFWKYCV; Ala-Cys-Phe-Trp-Lys-Tyr-Cys-Val) have been cloned by Sugo et al (2003).
