Urotensin-2
abbr. and approved gene synbol: UTS2; also abbr. UTN-2, U2. Urotensin-2 is a vasoactive cyclic a dodecaneuropeptide from the teleost caudal neurosecretory system (Medakovic and Lederis, 1975; Moore et al, 1975). Its sequence is strongly conserved among different species from mollusks and amphibians to mammals (Coulouarn et al, 1998) (for a related peptide see also: URP [UII-related peptide; U2-related peptide; urotensin-2-related peptide. The terms urotensin-2-alpha and urotensin-2-beta refer to distinct species of urotensin-2 found in zebrafsh (Tostivint et al, 2006).
