UTPF

[Uterotrophic placental factor] This protein has been obtained from human term placentae (Boric et al, 1993). UTPF presents several molecular forms (270 kDa, 90 kDa, and 27 kDa). In human term placenta UTPF is bound to albumin and immunoglobulins, possibly representing a storage or transport form of this factor. The factor acts on uterine growth, mammary gland, and blastocyst development and implantation. A closely related protein (or protein complex) from bovine term placenta has been described also (Iñiguez et al, 1995).
