UTMC-2
a human monoclonal plasma cell line established from a patient with immunoglobulin A kappa-related multiple myeloma (Ozaki et al, 1994). The cells are Epstein-Barr virus-negative and express cytoplasmic IgA kappa and the plasma cell-associated surface antigens CD38 and CD56. They do not express CD10, CD19, CD20, and HLA-DR.
IL6 increases IgA kappa synthesis and cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner. These effects are blocked by IL6 antisense RNA. UTMC-2 cells express IL6 mRNA and contain IL6
