TBPA) or prealbumin (PALB) (Kanda et al, 1974; Whitehead et al, 1984; Mita et al, 1984). The gene maps to human chromosome 18 q12.1 and consists of four exons. Transthyretin is an evolutionary conserved protein (Power et al, 2000).
