TMAF

[tumor-derived macrophage-activating factor] This biochemically uncharacterized factor is produced by tumor cells and has the ability to activate macrophages to induce inducible nitric oxide synthase and nitric oxide production. This activity is enhanced in the presence of IFN-gamma (Kim et al, 2003). Choi et al (2003) have reported that TMAF acts in synergy with taxol to activate the macrophages to elicit enhanced tumor cell killing ability.
