[Toll-like receptor-22] TLR22 is a toll-like receptor found in fish only. TLR22 has a surveillance function like the human cell surface TLR3 (Palti, 2011). TLR22 is found in several fish species but only as a non-functional pseudogene in man (Oshiumi et al, 2008). Ishii et al (2007) have reported TLR22 in Xenopus tropicalis.
This receptor, like other toll-like receptors, plays a role in innate immunity by acting as a pattern recognition receptor.
