TCTP
[translationally controlled tumor protein] Approved gene symbol TPT1 [tumor protein translationally-controlled-1]. The protein has been identified independently as fortilin.
TCTP protein is identical with p23, a protein of Ehrlich ascites tumor cells, synthesized preferentially in the exponentially growing tumor. It is identical with IgE-HRF (IgE-dependent histamine releasing factor).
TCTP is a multifunctional protein that is present and conserved in mammals, higher plants and Saccharomyces cerevisiae
