[teneurin C-terminal associated peptides] The teneurin gene was discovered originally in Drosophila melanogaster (gene: CG5723) and named Odz [odd Oz], so named because a deletion removes all odd-numbered body segments (Levine et al, 1994) or Tenascin-M because of sequence homology to the extracellular matrix protein tenascin (Baumgartner et al, (1994). Mutations of the gene result in embryonic lethality in the fruit fly.
