abbr. and gene symbol: Sun. This Drosophila melanogaster protein is encoded by gene CG9032 and exists in two isoforms Stunted A and Stunted B (Cvejic S et al, 2004). Stunted encodes the Drosophila melanogaster epsilon subunit of the mitochondrial ATP synthase and plays a role in ATP generation (hence the name F0/F1 ATP synthase Epsilon and the alternative gene designations ATP5E or ATPE [ATP synthase Epsilon subunit]; approved gene symbol in humans: ATP5F1E [ATP synthase F1 subunit epsilon]).
