This synthetic peptide, derived from human PEDF and corresponding to human PEDF(387-411) (DYHLNQPFIFVLRDTDTGALLFIGK; Asp-Tyr-His-Leu-Asn-Gln-Pro-Phe-Ile-Phe-Val-Leu-Arg-Asp-Thr-Asp-Thr-Gly-Ala-Leu-Leu-Phe-Ile-Gly-Lys), has been shown to increase the adhesion of osteosarcoma cells and to reduce the invasiveness of these cells. The peptide most significant inhibits Matrigel invasion. The peptide does not inhibit angiogenesis in a tube formation assay but suppresses VEGF expression (Ek et al, 2007).
