[Super conserved receptor expressed in brain 3] This G-protein-coupled receptor has been identified by Matsumoto et al (2000). SREB3 expression is high in brain and ovary. Lower expression levels are seen in small intestine. The approved gene symbol for this receptor is GPR173 [G-protein-coupled receptor 173].
The ligand for this receptor has been identified as GNRH(1-5), a bioactive pentapeptide fragment of GNRH1 [gonadotropin releasing hormone 1]. Treen et al (2016) have identified SREB3 as a receptor for Phoenixin.
