[single immunoglobulin domain-containing IL1R-related protein] This receptor is being referred to also as TIR8 [TOLL/IL1R8; TOLL/interleukin-1 receptor 8].
The human and mouse cDNA encoding this protein has been identified by sequence homology to the signaling domain of the IL1 receptor (Thomassen et al, 1999). The human protein (410 amino acids) is 82 % identical with the mouse protein. The protein contains a single immunoglobulin (Ig) extracellular domain (118 amino acids) with 4 potential N-glycosylation sites. The cytoplasmic tail (268 amino acids) contains 4 copies of an IL1 receptor-like signaling
